Why Ur Holiday is Too Long???

Air Asia ticket to Terengganu usually costs around RM50-90 one way. Not during peak time obviously, ahh and yesterday's plan failed miserably. I was supposed to print out the mask for my fabrication process, it turns out yesterday was the 7th day of Chinese New year and some Uncle told me they are still in holiday. yesterday supposed to be raya day for the people he said and then 9th CNY will be raya for their bamboo gods or something.
And that was some new knowledge i learnt when I've already arrived at the shop. haha what a waste of time. Today I'll have to go there again it seems. Actually last night my Uncle had just passed away, so i want to ask if any is reading this post aside me, to please recite Al-fatihah and make doa for him. May Allah bless and shower him with Rahmah and Maghfirah.

Tskkk, such a waste.

It's been two years already, pursuing master. The hardest part, fabrication of those tiny device component. And by tiny I mean in nanometer scale, even smaller than a single hair. Usually, to fabricate this small thingy, we need to pattern it first in a software before print the design out on the substrate itself. The pattern is called mask as it will be directly or on top of the substrate during lithography process. The best thing about designing the pattern is that the machine which supposed to be able to print the mask in IMEN has been out of order for the whole two years now. And everytime I need to design other pattern on the substrate, I'll have to go to a printing shop in Balakong just to have it printed out. As far as I remember, I've wasted my time there at least 10 times. IMEN y u do tisss??

A simple pattern on the substrate

Today I'm going there again. Anyone cares to join? Meh nk blanja K-fry.haha

Blackpink in Justice League

I've just watched Justice League last night. Quite shocked to suddenly hear kpop song playing in a Hollywood movie. What is it that makes blackpink so special, people are waiting for every comeback that they'd make.  I wonder. they dont even have lots of songs, but every one of them is popular. I'm not really into kpop nowadays*, but yea i do listen to some of the songs. For blackpink, my favorite (or maybe the only one i have) would be 'stay'.

*going back to 2012, when i was in CFSIIUM, Afiq, my childhood friend/roommate there introduced to me the world of k-variety/drama/kpop. My first show was obviously 'running man', and 'Full House' was my 1st drama. Following that, i was hooked to k-world but honestly, I like k-variety the best. I watched other shows like rm, family outing, return of superman, and 2 days 1 night. these varieties have like hundreds of episodes, so its better to get to know how much time you'll waste for them before you start, haha.

Today, only two of those varieties that i'm still following, 2 days 1 night and running man. But, if i have to pick either one I'll definitely go for 2d1n. :D And I've long let go korean dramas from my to watch list. Why? because there are lots of other dramas better than korean drama. What is it? hehe I'll expose on the other post.

My 1st Time

I've only been to interview for work once, and that was for customer service position (don't really remember the actual name, but usually you solve customers issue on IT problem) in HP Cyberjaya, few months after graduated from IIUM. It went pretty bad I think, not that I can't answer the question but entahla, I think I messed up when the interviewer asked me basic question like whats happening if you can't browse internet on chrome? I just thought hard answer to impress such as changing the dns and so on, and completely missed out simple answer like maybe there is no internet connection to the device, or maybe the browser is bugged. Then when the interviewer asked me  whether I like the position or not, the simple answer should be yes right. but my answer? i don't really remember but something like if possible I'd want to apply for another position, software developer i said. haha. funny.

in 2016 kot.
my first official job interview in a nutshell, forever will be remembered.

Ez money for snacks :D

Have you guys ever made money by answering survey? I've claimed around RM200 through globaltestmarket.com tho. (timespan=2years, around 4months active)

Finally I've found what I'll do after waking up every morning. Since my brain and body needs time to warm up, I'll start by answering simple survey. at least i'm getting something out of it right. Instead of just scrolling through social media looking for funny videos, I can actually loot some money for snacks. Even though my thesis is not finished yet, haha.

seriously delicious. Must try.

its been 2 weeks already if im not mistaken, to not sleep after subuh. So far so good, even during weekend i still managed to stay awake, it is just that i dont write on holiday. straight to the gaming session in the morning. :D

Today will be another long day, I've just received a reply from the finance in my department, my paper supposed to be published in a journal was denied because the budget allocation for publication is already finished. So, I'll have to find other grant to publish my paper. Man, how hard it is to publish  in a journal, even when the paper is accepted, another problem arises. May Allah ease.

How to not attend a Conference :P

For the last two years, I've participated in two international conference. and this year, another one will be on early march. Whats funny is that for all of these conferences, I always have overlapping schedule that I think is more important to go. since the conference I need to attend was actually compulsory for the student, I have no other choice but to prepare a paper and ask for other author to present it for me.

In 2017, RSM conference was organized in Penang. I dont really remember when was the poster came out to submit the paper but for those particular days, I have booked Air Asia ticket for a vacation in Osaka much early, about half a year before. Since I have planned the vacation with a friend of mine, I tried to persuade my supervisor to take my place in the presentation. And, thankfully she accepted.

ICSE Conference was held in August 2018, and this time everything went smoothly at first. But, about a month before the conference (note that deadline of submission is usually 2-3 months before the conference, so I have already submitted my paper), I have received an invitation from a Japanese Institute for an interview + internship there. And the internship was to commence immediately, around the days when I was supposed to participate on the conference. This time, however, the internship has been called off because the budget was not enough, they said. So, I was able to join the conference, and three days later, I went to Japan just for a week of interview.

My Co-Supervisor, Dr. Rhonira and Me

This upcoming March 2019, another conference, internal but not limited to, a joint symposium is going to be held in UKM. As usual, every IMEN students are required to participate in the program and so do I. Looks like this time once again I'll miss it, since I've already booked for Umrah on that date.

See, three consecutive years, I have to be in this situation. But in reality, I'm actually relieved. Its just that I'm not too eager on presenting in front of tons of academicians. the trauma felt during Japan interview is still there. haha

One day is enough to write a three pages conference paper!

Or is it not?

Tomorrow i'll have to submit a paper for the annual colloquium of my institute. Busy writing now, in my mind. On the Microsoft word, still a long way to go.

今日私は本当に忙しいです。
時間がありませんから、書きません。またね

Yoda is laughing. Doesn't believe I can write in a day or wat? hmmm

How would you put language proficiency on your resume?

I have just completed my 3rd level of Japanese Language Class in UKM last semester. For now, I'm eligible to undertake the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N5 (JLPTN5) which I think will be an additional bonus point on my resume, especially if i'm to work in a Japanese company. Studying other language isn't that hard, the hardest challenge I would say is time. You see, learning a new language just need you to practice to make sentences, remember the translations and write it. Unlike science and mathematics where you will have a hard time to understand the concept, language isn't that complex.

For Japanese Language, the hardest part for me? kanji for sure. To write and read, there will be a distinctive of three/four different type of letters, namely kanji, hiragana, katakana and sometimes romaji included. those hiragana and katakana are quite simple, and there are around nearly 100 characters to be remembered. but for kanji (originated from chinese characters), I dont really know how many are they because till now it does look to me like they are never ending. haha.

For grammar, I think is quite simple, japanese language is quite similar to arabic actually. especially the verb, there is the base form, and you'll need to add or remove a character depending on the situation. and the verb is usually consists of just a small number of characters such as:

1. mi- see
2. nomi- drink
3. yomi- hear
4. iki- go
5. ki- come
6. kaki- write
7. kari-  borrow

and the list goes on.. quite simple and ez to remember right. but all of this verb have their own kanji and thats the hard part. I mean if japanese remove kanji from their language, the difficulty level will greatly decrease :D

Actually I dont really know, because I've only been to job interview once ( and I failed that). But just in my opinion, and i would like to believe that knowing more languages will definitely increase our self-worth. Cant wait to take the JLPTN5 exam so I can finally add on to my resume.

I took TOEIC test as a requirement b4 went to the interview in Japan. Managed to get full score, haha but honestly I think any Malaysian can easily ace. It is commonly taken by koreans/japanese, in which they are not that good in English, so you can relate how the test was.

Non stop ranting.

Ok. a little change to the plan. I will not post on weekend, not that I'll sleep but I dont feel like doing it on a holiday. Instead, I'll just use the time to refresh with a jog or anything else.

Nenek and Amir jogging too

Well, changes that had really occured to me those last week was that I feel sleepy very early at night. Usually, I sleep at 1am but last week, at 11pm I've already started to doze off.

It is actually good for me to sleep early I think. So that I can actually have a proper sleeping time. But for now, the only thing lacking is my bed. I'm sleeping on a 'kerusi malas'. Why? because my house is packed with people. Every bed is occupied and I dont really have my own :O

But, yeah tonight I'll get a bed so it's ok. I've endured two weeks of sleeping whilst sitting. A bed will finally be abandoned today since a family member is leaving to have a 6 months of exchange program in Turkey.

haha.

Arubaito is going to hold me from working

Today marks the first week of staying up after subuh. Wew, I think I surely need to find a job la, to push me to get ready early.
But how do i run my 1 hour business?

Ok, to make it simple, I'll share how does my part time job works.
1. The concept is similar to dropship, I dont hold the stock but its ready at the supplier.
2. The supplier opens at 10 am to 6 pm daily.
3. As you may have seen I've uploaded all the items that can be sold through the supplier on shopee.
4. So, I just wait for orders to come in, sometimes reply to question through chat and boost views.
5. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I will print out the shipping form, get to the supplier to purchase the items ordered, pack the parcels and lastly drop the parcels at the nearest poslaju office.
6. And it usually take around an hour to two to comolete the whole process.
7. The most important factor contributing to success in your business in shopee, I've stated it already on the previous post. But let me emphasize it once again.
8. Make sure the products that you want to sell are cheap, high demand and can be sold at around double the capital.
9. Good Luck!

done packing n its time to drop!!

The only drawback of this part time job that will be a problem to me is the fact that the supplier is only open during office hours. So what if I've finally got a full time job. Can I still have an hour or two to run the アルバイト?
Haha, maybe i need to try looking for night shift job

* アルバイト (pronounced ARUBAITO) is part time job in japanese katakana. There are 3 different type of letters in Japanese languange; Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. I'll talk about this on my next post.

I think blackberry OS is definitely better than iOs or android OS

I just switched to android about 2 months ago. My 1st smartphone was an iphone 4, given by lena, older sister of mine for RM200 repair fee. (The phone was actually drowned in the toilet bowl). and then I bought an iphone 6, when the price was not too high back then.
There are pros and cons of using any OS, and i would say the features of iOs that i personally experienced were:
1. using ios was indeed simple and neat, considering all media is put into one place. Its easier to find any file that you are looking for eventhough some people might be bothered by the need to install itunes.
2. the apps rarely crash, the stability of the OS + apps surely is better than android OS.
3. camera? Well during the early days of the smartphone, iOs definitely had better cameras, but today, there are a lot of other brands that can deliver, i think.

shot on iphone6. En route to Kinabalu peak in 2015.

For android device, i have just used it for mere 2 months. For now, everything seems good. I bought the proclaimed "Flagship killer" Oneplus 6. And the only things that bother are that the picture app is a bit confusing. I cant find the picture that ive downloaded or screenshot in the main page, need to find it in folders.

btw, in conjuntion with CNY, shopee is conducting quiz sessions twice a day, at 12PM and 8PM. the questions are easy and you could win lots of shopee coins (ive won twice= around RM10 worth shopee coins). just log in to the mobile app during the first 10 min of the quiz time to join. Good luck!

When was the last time you read a book?

As far as I remember, the last book that I've read is 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' by Robert Kiyosaki and that was maybe around two years ago..
What I can say is writing is now such a freaking burden on my mind. But I have to do this, since this is the best way for me to upgrade myself, to keep using my head instead of dozing off around the morning.

I've stated in the previous post that during past two years, I've not done anything much and by having a lot of free time, I usually used them on playing games and watching dramas and shows. But I'm sure most of the games are typical (Dota 2, CS:GO, GTA V) but not those videos.

Generally speaking, most Malaysians tend to watch English and Korean dramas/shows right?

I'm hooked by Japanese Dramas/ Shows. y? simple answer would be fast paced, kawaii and ultra extra exaggerated humor.

Long answer will be on the next post. Need to go out now; jogging time.

私は日本へ行きました

I was in Japan for a whole week last year, went for an interview for phd and the best part; it was fully sponsored. As you guys might have notice, there are tons of opportunities for us students to apply for a place to pursue our education with sponsors. The only thing to do is to apply for one.

However the iv was hard. mathematics and chemistry exam on the 1st day, presentation on the 3rd and another on the 5th day. And the audience? around 40 professors and lecturers from the hosting university. But thats ok, considering you've tried your best and however the results turns, you've gain some precious experience and memory.

NIMS- National institute for Materials Science Japan, in Tokyo

Godzilla in Fukuoka

It was summer time. The kids having fun in the biggest mall in Fukuoka

Waterfront Fukuoka

Feel free to ask if anybody want to know more on the details of the journey, how to apply and so on.

Science-loving Millenials

Is it true that school students nowadays prefer not to take science stream for their upper high course?

15 years ago, my mum used to buy lots of science experiment books and guides, and I was really interested in trying to conduct whichever that i could. the activity seems fun, and the reaction used to WOW us. Today's kids had always been fed with advanced technology that they no longer find those science experiment interesting, or have little exposure towards the matter.

The price for a kids scientific kit is huge. i did some price checking across the web and physical store selling these products, maybe this is one of the factor contributing. Well, parents do have limitation on their budget, so whether a product could be worth it or not is important.

RM60 for a weather lab, with simply 5 instruments is 'batsu'
I am currently working on a new project called science4derp. A group of people including myself, basically, we want to cultivate STEM in fun way, by providing cool kits to school students which is affordable, fun and beneficial.

I'll explain more on this later on. For now please do support our official facebook and instagram page. the page has not been updated for quite a while, since our designer is working his ass off on the product, but we'll surely be back soon.

Thank you :D

Tricks to BOOM your sales on Shopee! (100% Working)

yeah the title is definitely not a click bait (oopss). Morning thoughts continues..

Doing Masters, unfortunately, grant provided will only be able to support your study for 2 years maximum. During those good ol days, RM1.8k per month + part time seller will be more than sufficient. Mana taknya, when selling in shopee with a preferred title can easily bring around 5k per month. But today the reality is different, study time has exceeded (meaning no more allowances) and shopee algorithm has been changed plus more competitor, its getting hard. So, I definitely has to find other ways to survive, earn and jolly :D or else I will have to start finding job soon.

Talking about shopee, it was not that hard to boom your sales if it was 2 years ago, but not if you want to start now. The tricks were simple:

1. Sell hot and easy selling item, preferably cheap item with 50:50 ratio of capital and profit.
2. before that is going to work, buang harga dulu. take 10% profit only till you reach requirement for preferred seller.
3. Eureka! once you have the title, your item will automatically be placed on top search. So, you can now start to sell at normal price.
4. Its time to harvest your profit.

Sales for 'shirt4derp' in 2018. roughly around 4-5k per month, not a lot but considering only have to work for less than an hour a day for three times a week, it is quite good :D.
BUT, it will only work if you've done it 2 years back. Nowadays, everything sucks hard. even 3 months of achieving preferred seller requirement will not guarantee you the title, and the search algorithm seems to be a mess. With shopee introducing new fees for sellers, e.though its only 1%, but surely it affects.

However, you can give it a try! :D I wish the best of luck to those trying to start.

Come support guys: shirt4derp

2019 Comeback! WOW going strong (much)

OK. It seems 2 years has passed since my last post in this blog. the last time I wrote, it was during my 1st year doing Master. God, it IS tough. HAHA. Master by research looks ez and breezy at start, but then u'll be damned by lacking equipment, failed experiment, swayed by laziness and then things got harder and you will just have to find a way out. (meaning; 1 journal paper publication). But, it will not be satisfying with just a simulation paper, people always says simulation : rubbish so fabrication it should be.

Fabrication, may be ez or freaking time consuming. Well at least its not hard, coz nowadays, everything seems to be working with a manual, but microfabrication, is not a 1-2 hour process. it take weeks and as the sample is limited and pricey, defects leads to a week of depression, and a restart to the whole fabrication process.

nah, a sample picture of a defective sample :O

Time goes on, and Alhamdulillah now it should be the last semester of this (feels like) never ending journey. Even though the fabrication process is half way done, I shall make it suffice for publication by using the magic of 'peep the cnp warrior'. Damn it was easy during undergrad, I could finish FYP and EIT in a matter of couple months, but son, never underestimate the postgraduate level.

* why the f am i writing again after two years? Well those two years, being a postgraduate student and a freaking self-proclaimed boss, has taught me to always have more free time than others, and honestly, I've been sleeping after suboh for the whole 2 years straight and only wake up at around 8:30 -9 to start the day. Its shitty isn't it. So, my resolution for 2019 is to stay awake in the morning, no more shits and blanket. and decided to spend 30 min for a post daily (or maybe not, HAHA) so I can gain something instead of dozing off.

Well let see how it goes.
